Question of the Day..."Are these oils or acrylics?"

For most people this seems like a silly question, some think, 'what difference does it make?'.  For me, it makes a huge difference!  If I am creating a very detailed painting I will use Oil paint.  The reason for this being that oil paint has a more translucent ability which enables me to create many layers of color.  Not much that we see has one color in it.  It may appear to be one general color, but when looking deep, there are most often different color componenets.  This gives me the real life quality.  Another reason I like to work in oil, is the drying time.  Unlike the acrylic, it can take several days and possibly even weeks to dry.  Giving me the ability to work on several pieces at a time.  My fine art is what I focus my time in oils into.

Acrylics are great for faster works.  Most of the original paintings I sell in La Jolla are in acrylic.  I have learned how to create an oil like look with the acrylic.  There are times when I prefer working in this medium for sake of time!  There are always those times when you need a project done fast, so it has been great to be able to use this medium to get my projects done on time.

My suggestion is to work with both, get a feel for them and see what you like best.  Everyone has their own style and what they like to work with.  So find what works for you!  Happy Painting!

Question of the day?..."Are you the Artist?"

This is the next big step for Trudelle Galleries.  I have hired a representative to sell my prints in La Jolla during the week, to enable me to work on commission pieces and more Fine Art.  He is a great guy and is such a big help! He is passionate about our mission at Trudelle Galleries and I am looking forward to working with him for years to come.  I will  be going out there with him on Saturdays to help out and to meet you great people.  I love meeting the pepole in La Jolla.  People come from around the world to our beautiful San Diego, and it's so awesome to be able to talk with so many of you.

I have been able to start two fine art still life pieces that I cannot wait to finish and share!  I am so excited about them!!! Fine Art is my passion.   I am also working on commission pieces that are keeping me busy.  I am so thankful that I am able to pursue my passion for my profession, I'm so blessed!

Here are some images from recent commission pieces. It is always great to meet new people and be able to create them something that will last a lifetime. Art has a way of speaking in a way all it's own. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as these new owners do! I am always working on commission pieces and would love to work with you!

Question of the Day..."Where is your gallery location?"

I am really enjoying being back in La Jolla!  I have not been out for the last two months due to pressing projects.  It is awesome to be in public and meeting new people again.

So my recent question of the day has been, "Where is your gallery location?"  My gallery location does not have a physical address.  Most of my work is posted on my website and right here on the blog!  The only place I publicly display my work is when I paint out in La Jolla.  My dream is to have my own gallery.  I have already invisioned what it will look like.  So now, I wait and work to make my dreams come true.  For now, keep up with my recent postings here on the blog and keep checking out the website for new work!

Latest Project- Captial Power Corporation

I have been so pleased to work with one of the newest power companies in San Diego. Capital Power Corporation just moved in to the La Jolla area and are making their move. I was able to meet one of their Administrators while selling out in La Jolla a couple months ago. She contacted me about doing some work for their new office. We had our first consultation a couple of weeks ago and the final product is complete! I am so happy with these pieces and I can't wait to have them in their offices. I am looking forward to delivering them after the holiday. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Litte Italy

We participated in the Mission Federal Little Italy Art Walk here in San Diego last weekend and it was a sucess! We were able to meet a lot of new people and were able to also meet some great fellow artists! It was inspiring to see the othere styles of art. I am always trying to learn, so it was great to see what other people are doing and how they become inspired to do what they do. I was happy to talk to so many people who were interested in my work and I hope to work with them in the future. I still have a good amount of work that I would love to get into the hands of people. So contact me if you see anything you like. You can also follow us on Facebook! We had a fan giveaway this last week, so stay posted with Trudelle Galleries!

Question of the day... Where did you go to school for this?

While I am in La Jolla there always seems to be a dominating question that most people ask me all day.  Not sure how it happens, but they always come up with some good ones!  I am going to start sharing some of these questions so that you can learn a little more about me as you view my art.

Where did you go to school for this?  This is today's question.  Many artists study for years and pay lots of money to study artists, learn new mediums, and find a style. Me... mine is a gift.  My abilities are gifts from God.  I never went to any formal art school.  I have been drawing and pursuing art for my entire life.  I have no way to explain how I know how color compliments in the way that it does.  Color has always come natural for me.  Why do yellow and purple compliment each other?  My answer, they are opposite on the color spectrum, it only makes sense.

I have a passion for what I do.  I love being able to capture and recreate the world around me.  It is a gift to be able to see everyday life, but being able to recreate it to enjoy forever is not a talent I take lightly.

Stay posted for my "Question of the Day"posts.  Some will be informative while others will be quite humorus!

I think I found it...

So I think I found my style. I have always really loved the bright teal and deep blue colors, and now I have taken those colors and created my own style. I have done all of these this last week and I LOVE it!!!! I hope you love these as much as I do. You will be seeing more of these in the near future. Come out to La Jolla this weekend and pick up one for yourself, they are going fast! Or contact me through my website trudellegalleries.com and let me know if you would like to buy one. Enjoy!

In La Jolla

So I went out to La Jolla last night for just a little while to get some exposure.  Had a great time talking with people about my paintings, while I enjoyed another beautiful sunset at the Cove.  I hope to go back out again soon so that people can continue to fall in love with what they see.  Check back, or come out and meet me in La Jolla Cove!

12 Reasons to Visit San Diego in 2012

12 Reasons to Visit San Diego in 2012

Out in Open Air

Hey!
So I started working on small plein air paintings the other day, and I love it!  Plein air means, out in the open air, and is a style of art that artists used to use before we had cameras.  They would sit out somewhere and do a quick little painting on site, and then take it back to their studio, paint it in more detail and on a larger canvas.  So I have decided to stray from my fine art for a little bit to do some of these smaller pieces.  I am looking forward to getting them in the hands to people!  Check them out at trudellegalleries.com!
